Il metodo.

In the beginning, an image takes shape in my mind, becoming increasingly defined, almost pleading to be transferred onto a more tangible and enduring medium. This image materializes as a sketch, meticulously drawn in black and white and in the proportions it will assume in its final form on paper, board, or canvas.

The color, though still physically invisible, is already decided and noted in the white spaces, at least in a general sense. Subsequently, I transfer the drawing onto the prepared medium, coated with an undercoat or primer.

It is through the application of color that my creations come to life in a serious manner, sometimes leading me in a much different direction than initially anticipated. Faces are the first to materialize, and their expressions define the emotional tone of the artwork, even prompting style changes or the selection of new chromatic nuances. However, if I have uncertainties about a specific aspect of the painting, I prefer to start applying color there, to clarify my thoughts, eliminate indecision, and progress swiftly towards completing the work.

When I find the right inspiration, I become an unstoppable whirlwind. I detest leaving my works unfinished for days because, over time, I unpleasantly sense the initial excitement fading and the vision losing its impact. I have even skipped meals to keep the creative flow uninterrupted until the artwork is finished.

Nevertheless, growth and change are inevitable. For my recent works, I have chosen to take more time to reflect on the choices made and achieve a more mature and less instinctive style. I am extremely satisfied to have undergone this "turning point" without compromising or altering the initial emotional imprint.
